Solitary Fairies: Life or death is a companion book to Irish Fairies: Fearsome or Friendly. This book introduces a whole new set of mysterious beings rarely described in Irish literature. Known as the solitary fairies, they include the leprechaun, cluricaun, beansidhe, thivish, Jack-o-Lantern, púca, selkie, merrow, grógach and dullahan.
The author uses a question-answer format, followed by a folktale, to answer every possible question one could have about solitary fairies, most of whom, are alien to anyone who lives outside of Ireland. Solitary Fairies: Life or Death adds authentically new and refreshing information never before seen in print. The author draws deeply from family and local folk traditions. Some of the folktales have been borrowed from the Irish National Folklore Collections.
