Bookworm Bookshop has been trading in the centre of Thurles Co. Tipperary for over thirty years. Established in 1993 the shop started life in a small premises on Westgate but has since moved twice and is now located at the corner of Liberty Square and Parnell Street. Bookworm has now over 2000 sq.ft floor space and stocks a broad range of books covering many genres, ages and reading tastes!

Over the years Bookworm has established a name as one of the leading independent bookstores in Ireland. Customer service is a top priority and we do our utmost to source any book a customer requires, even if it is one of those out of print and ‘hard to find’ titles! Our stock is carefully chosen, and while we do stock all the current bestsellers, we also try to carry a range that is broad, interesting and reflective of our own tastes and those of our customers.

Children’s books are a huge part of our shop (taking up almost a quarter of our shelf space) and very much a passion for all of us here at Bookworm. We stock a great range of children’s titles to suit all ages from baby to young adult. Our local interest section is also hugely important and very well stocked with a broad selection of titles relating to Tipperary or by Tipperary authors.

At Bookworm we stock a range of musical instruments and accessories, particularly suitable for the beginner but also for more seasoned musicians! In more recent times we have also introduced a range of knitting and haberdashery items into the store including knitting wool, needles, cottons and threads.

Our café which is located at the back of the shop is an oasis of calm and tranquillity, surrounded by lovely books on all sides! To keep within current Covid 19 regulations our tables are physically distanced to ensure customer safety and cleaned and sanitised throughout the day. Our freshly ground Italian coffees are delicious, and we support local producers for our daily made cakes, buns and scones! We host a number of weekly gatherings in the cafe including our 'Ciorcal Gaeilge' every Tuesday. Bígí Linn!!
