Born in west Cork, this farmer's son changed the course of Irish history. He fought in the 1916 Easter Rising, planned the guerilla war that brought the British government to it's knees, and helped to negotiate the treaty that led to the Irish Civil War. He became a minister in the first Irish government and Commander-in-Chief of the Irish army. In the end, he was betrayed by his former comrades in a fatal ambush.
