Tipperary is one of the larger irish countries and has historically been properous in both agriculture and some industry in the larger towns. Nevertheless it suffered significantly from the Great Irish Famine abd resulting economic depreddion. The population dropped from 435000 in 1841 to 173000 by 1891.
